How Do You Find Your Niche?

Everybody tells you to do it, but they rarely tell you how.

How Do You Find Your Niche?

How many times have you read advice that tells you, “You have to find your niche?”

Or better yet, “Niche down if you really want to succeed.”

This is fantastic advice.

It works.

The frustrating part is no one really tells you how to do it, just that you should do it in order to achieve some sort of success.

Advice isn’t very helpful if it doesn’t give you a solution to implement it.

I understand that frustration!

I had the same struggle as you. I read all the advice out there and everyone said the same thing.

“Find your niche.”

“Niche down!”

“Niche your niche until you niche in a niche.”

Honestly, I think they just like using fancy French words to sound smart.

But how do you find your niche?

Since no one was telling me how to do it, just that I NEEDED to do it, I just made one up.

Yep, just decided to make that sucker up out of the blue one day.

Here’s my method to find your niche, niche down, and be the nichest niche you can possibly niche.

The 3 Passions Method.

My method is simple, as are most of the things I try to do.

  1. Pick 3 things you’re truly passionate about.
  2. Figure out how you can combine those things to form your niche.
  3. Figure out which audience is the most likely to benefit from your niche so you can niche down.

My first step was to keep it simple and find three things I was passionate about.

They had to be something I wouldn’t be bored to death writing about 3 years down the line.

So, I asked myself a question:

  • What do I know about that can be helpful to others that I also love talking about endlessly and could bore you to death with intricate details at a party to the point you want to find a house plant to make friends with?

(Yeah, I know. This is why I don’t go to parties.)

Here’s what I came up with:

  1. I love to teach people how to write.
  2. I love being creative while being productive.
  3. I love injecting minimalism into my creative pursuits, making the process simple.

Great. Now, which one do I pick?

I realized, why not do them all?

Every single piece can be combined into something that provides value to readers, giving them actionable advice on how to improve their craft, keep it simple, and produce quickly.

It might strike you that this is actually making your niche broader and less focused, but I believe it does the opposite.

It can absolutely appeal to many different people, but it also pulls together your passions in a focused way.

That will help you niche down.

Now, the niche down.

You’ve picked your passions.

Now you have to dissect them to find out who will benefit the most from them.

Looking at my example above, it’s clear that I’m going to be most helpful to new, aspiring creators.

To solidify the niche down in my mind, I wrote a mission statement:

At Niche of One, my mission is to empower aspiring creators with the tools, strategies, and inspiration they need to create impactful content with simplicity and efficiency. I believe in the power of minimalist content creation to help beginners focus on what matters most — sharing their unique voices and ideas with the world. Through actionable advice, innovative resources, and supportive community, I guide first-time creators on their journey to success, turning their passions into meaningful, profitable ventures.

And that’s it!

I found my niche.

I niched it down.

I did the thing everyone told me to do but, for whatever reason, couldn’t explain to me how it should be accomplished.

I hope this helps you figure out your niche, too.
