BIP: The Niche of One Revamp

Some insight into how I'm moving forward to get ahead.
BIP: The Niche of One Revamp

When I first started Niche of One, it was out of a desperate need for money.

Honestly, that's where I went wrong.

I was launching from a sense of desperation and not with a goal of intentional, meaningful creation.

I burnt out. The goal of making money wasn't happening fast enough. I was trying to run when I needed to learn to walk first.

But that experience, like most of my mistakes in life, taught me a valuable lesson.

Do less to be more.

With that in mind, I've begun to take a segmented approach to rebuilding.

I'm evaluating what worked well, and what didn't work at all, instead of trying to repeat the cycle I began before.

I was trying to be someone I wasn't, build this slick digital empire that had no flaws, and present a personality that had it all together.

In essence, I wasn't being honest. Not with myself, and not with the audience I built.

That had to change.

Here's what I'm doing on the site:

  • As you can see, different theme. More minimal. Less distraction. Just as I like it. (Hopefully you do, too. I'd love to hear your opinion in the comments, or you can send me an email.)
  • Taking everything I've learned and making it better.
    • Revamping old posts that feel dry or lack my voice. Editing for better clarity. Adding new images.
    • Creating a hub page that will have resources and freebies for regular and paid members.
  • Finding that balance between sharing my advice and sharing me. I still want to share my thoughts and experiments with getting my writing to pay without being a total marketing guru shit goblin.
    • Starting to realize one is absolutely integral to the other.
    • This is quickly becoming my "build in public" platform.
  • Newsletters will be more succinct. I've been testing out different styles, but simple is better. It fits me.

So, what path am I taking going forward?

Number one, and most important, I'm being me. Sometimes that will probably leave you scratching your head and saying, "What was he thinking here?"

But that's okay. I've realize you're going to strikeout on occasion. Instead of being perfect, I'm being real.

Number two, I'm going to be more open about my processes and truly embrace the "building in public" ethos.

Number three, I'm revamping my business strategy from top to bottom, streamlining my processes, refocusing my energy, and moving forward and upward.

I invite you to join me for the ride.
