2 Minimalist Ways to Create Content and Keep Your Peace of Mind
Creating doesn’t have to be stressful!
It’s 100% unnecessary to create complex content to make it impactful.
In fact, it might be a detriment to your process.
How many times have you started a project and then quit, because it became a monster to deal with?
Uh-huh… you know I know you know that’s happened a few times to you, don’t cha?
It’s because it’s a common occurrence.
But there’s hope!
You can go nuclear with your content creation by adopting minimalist approaches to creating content.
These can streamline your process, engage your audience, and provide value with minimal effort.
Here are 2 ways you can do the thing!
1. Streamline your process.
You probably find yourself overwhelmed with a myriad of tools to select from and techniques to choose.
Solve this by focusing on the essential tools and strategies that genuinely enhance your workflow.
- Identify core tasks that you need to accomplish (e.g., writing, editing, marketing.)
- Choose one or two tools that help automate these tasks without unnecessary features you have no use for.
- Develop your routine so it integrates these tools into your process.
Streamlining your process reduces stress, simplifies your workflow, boosts focus, and enhances the enjoyment of content creation.
2. Create a content plan
If you’re doing all your creation at the last minute, you’re going to find you forget to send it some days or you will create weaker content.
Worst case scenario: you burn out from being on the spot all the time.
So, create a content plan!
- Plan your newsletters in advance. I usually have mine set up for the next 3 days at a minimum. This gives me plenty of time to create quality content.
- Block your creation time so that you can focus on multiple projects. When the time is up for that block… STOP! Pick it back up the next day. You’ll avoid the burnout creep and be able to complete more projects.
- Stick to your plan, but monitor and adjust for greater efficiency. If you’re not feeling a particular project one day, shuffle it to another day and focus on one you want to tackle. Adaptation is key.
Consistency is crucial for audience retention. A content plan ensures that you keep your audience’s trust by always delivering when you say you will, keeping them engaged and invested.
This approach also relieves the pressure of constantly rushed creation and allows you to engage without feeling overwhelmed.
Bonus: here are 2 tools I find indispensable in helping me achieve this strategy.
- Text Blaze (aff. link): I’ve only recently started using this, but it’s cutting down my marketing time quite a bit. I just create a snippet, give it a keyboard shortcut, then I post it on social media. And that’s only the tip of the iceberg of what this tool is capable of doing.
- ConvertKit (aff. link): I schedule all my newsletter posts in advance in ConvertKit, and they make it so easy to do. You create a template, so you don’t constantly struggle with formatting, it also has a snippet capability for use in their ecosystem, and scheduling it all is a breeze. It’s made my life so much easier.
By improving your process and planning ahead, you can avoid much of the strain that causes creator burnout.
Contrary to what some may say, this doesn’t destroy the spontaneous creative spark you might think is necessary.
In fact, it does the opposite and turns that spark into a fire!
These techniques enhance your creativity, engage you audience consistently, and allow you to create impactful content with simplicity and efficiency.
Go out there and create something amazing!
