10 Ways to Give Your Content New Life
There’s a gold mine of potential in repurposing your content
The lifecycle of you content doesn’t have to end with its first publication.
In fact, if that’s as far as you’re currently taking it, you’re losing out on a LOT of potential to gain new readers and additional potential income.
Diversification and adaptability are key to being a successful writer that makes money from their craft. You can’t simply be a one-trick pony.
One of the easiest ways to do this is to take previously published content and give it a makeover.
Today, I’m going to give you 10 ways to do just that.
- Break Down the Beasts
Maybe you have a mammoth blog post or some sort of detailed essay you’ve written? That can be pretty overwhelming for some readers who have limited time to dive into your in-depth work. So, chop that up into bite-sized pieces. Take your content and morph it into a series of short posts that can be read in a 3–4 minute timespan, each focusing on a specific aspect of your research. This approach not only makes the information more digestible but also stretches the content further. - From Audio/Visual to Written Marvels
Maybe you’re a podcasting or video auteur? Transcribe your content into articles. Many (like myself) prefer reading over listening and watching. Not only does this boost your content's accessibility, but it also opens up new avenues to gain more potential followers. - Write a Best of Series
Compile your greatest hits into a “Best of” collection. Think of it as the ultimate mixtape for writers. This not only serves as a valuable resource for your current audience but also introduces your new followers to your older, yet still relevant, work. - Content Glow-Up
Our world moves fast, and what might have been relevant yesterday might be outdated today. Take your old content and give it a facelift. Update statistics, give fresh perspectives, introduce new techniques you’ve learned. This is especially effective for topics that evolve rapidly, like technology or social media trends. - The Remix
Be creative and take elements from different post, mix them together, and create something new. Maybe you’ve written about email marketing and growing your followers through engagement. Combine these insights to craft a new article on how to be more engaging with your email marketing efforts to increase your follower count. This “remix” approach can yield surprisingly innovative content. - Turn Q&A sessions into Insightful Articles
If you engage with your audience by asking questions on social media, your newsletter, or live streams, use these interactions for your Medium articles. Summarize the most common questions and your answers to them in a post. It’s an effective way to address your audience’s pain points and offer them solutions while also creating engaging content. - Turn Your Articles into a Book.
You’ve probably written quite a few articles on a similar subject. Take those articles, organize them, edit them appropriately, and then format them into a book you can publish on Amazon KDP or another distributor. This can turn into a passive and evergreen source of income. - Transform Comments into Content
Your comments section is frequently an overlooked resource. Your readers will sometimes leave particularly insightful comments or ask questions that can be the basis of a whole new article. Transforming your content this way not only shows your audience that you’re listening and value their input but also encourages more engagement. - Create Free Guides
Take your best performing content, summarize it into short, quick guides, and offer that to your audience for free. If the content resonates with them, they will likely want to dive deeper into your more comprehensive work to gain more insight. - The Visual Twist
Transform key takeaways from your articles into visually appealing formats like infographics or simple graphics. Memes can also work wonders. Though Medium is a text-centric platform, visual elements can significantly enhance your posts, making them more engaging and shareable.
Remember, it’s not just about recycling old material.
Repurposing your content is about reimagining and revitalizing your work to engage and grow your audience.
By adopting these strategies, you can ensure you content continues to thrive, reaching new eyes and resonating with more readers.
Nothing is ever truly static. Each piece holds the potential for a new beginning.
