Southern Heavies
Southern Heavies play porch rock, the loose front-yard kind you make with a cooler full of beer and a fan pointed at the amp so it does not quit in the heat. Six tracks on the board, Back Porch Vote and Peach and Sunscreen State among them, all of it warm and slow and a little sunstruck. They cut the whole thing on an actual porch in two weekends, screen door slamming in the takes and a dog barking on Peach that they left in because it landed on the beat. The porch they recorded on sits on a house that, the county clerk swears, has had no address on file since 1971. The band keeps paying the power bill anyway. Somebody has to run the fan.
Also owns the porch, or did, before the address went missing.
