Delphine reviews the GZS Records catalog, the new Amanda's Dead Mother sides, the Devil Driver singles, the Vesper drones nobody else will sit through, and she does it in eight hundred words with a star rating she refuses to inflate. The reviews are sharp and fair and occasionally cruel. They are also never wrong, and that is the problem. She panned a Big Tex record for a flat third verse two weeks before it was recorded, and when the session happened the third verse came out flat, exactly the way she described it, down to the word she used, which was tired. The band keeps her clippings and consults them like weather. Delphine takes the bus to the office and brings her own mug. She says she just listens closely and writes down what she hears, and she hears it a little early.
